Melting Ice
Using a thermometer I recorded the temperature
every few minutes. I created a barrier which increased the around the ice. Then
I used the warmth of my hands to melt the ice.
Kaleidoscope
A few students from Melbourne University came and showed us how light travels and project. They demonstrated their presentation verbally and used diagrams and models. We made a kaleidoscope each, using three mirrors taped together. The image reflects off the mirrors creating the image to show the picture again.
The Telescope
There are many types of lenses; convex and concave. We created our own telescopes, it was tricky but we managed it. There are to different sizes we used; 10cm and 50cm lenses. When you look into the telescope the image is upside down.
Pin-hole Camera
Using a foam cup, some black paper, a pin and baking paper we each created a pin-hole camera. When directed at light it shows the image upside down. And shows the light.
Spectroscope
When you look into the light it shows seven different colours, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Directing it at natural or white light you see these colours.
